At the core of all this lies the Great elden ring runes, an extremely powerful yet difficult-to-obtain new item. Acquiring one will take some work; finding and ascending its respective Shardbearer Tower should suffice.
How to Farm Runes in Elden Ring
Elden Ring success requires amassing an impressive quantity of runes for powering up weapons and gear as well as traditional character leveling. Luckily, there are multiple strategies available for quickly amassing them within the game.
Early/mid game Castle Redmane offers the optimal elden ring runes farming spot in Southern Caelid. Here, you will find a group of statue-like warriors that are easy to kill but offer up an abundance of runes each time they die.
Grayoll’s Dragonbarrow provides another early game rune farm just south of Warmaster’s Shack Site of Grace in Stormhill. Although less difficult to kill than their Warmaster counterparts, these trolls still drop a decent number of runes every time they die. Finally, for end game players (who have completed all main quest line quests), Mohgwyn’s Palace offers an efficient rune farm.
How to Awaken a Great Rune
Great Runes differ from most consumables in that they do not deteriorate over time and remain active until players die or swap them out, or until their rune Arc runs out – something players can acquire either by killing bosses that drop them or by purchasing from Twin Maiden Husks in the Lands Between. To activate them requires special items called Rune Arcs that players can buy from Twin Maiden Husks around the Lands Between.
By activating a Great elden ring runes, players will unlock powerful boosts that last until either the end of their game or they switch out for something different. These powerful enhancements are essential when taking on some of Elden Ring’s more difficult content.
Godrick the Grafted’s defeat yields a Great Rune which can be activated by visiting his Divine Tower located north of Stormveil Castle near an overgrown path leading to a long and broken bridge. Mohg’s rune can also be activated via Mohgwyn Palace’s Divine Tower.
How to Activate a Great Rune
If you have collected a great elden ring runes from one of the demigods, its powers must first be activated at its associated Divine Tower before they can take effect. You’ll find these towers scattered throughout the Lands Between; some are even protected by Legacy Dungeons or boss fights!
To do this, you’ll require a Rune Arc item, which can be gained from killing enemies or from Twin Maiden Husks that roam each location. Be sure to save this for when difficult encounters arise – when using it against them can really give an extra edge of defense!
Once activated, the Great elden ring runes buff will remain active until either you die or change to another rune, meaning only activating one at a time to avoid wasting valuable consumables.
How to Enhance Weapons and Gear with Runes
Runes are the primary currency used in Elden Ring for several different uses, such as leveling up characters, upgrading weapons and gear, increasing attribute levels with Blacksmith services, or increasing attributes with other characters. While elden ring runes can be used for upgrading weapons and gear upgrades at a cost, any lost upon death means lost runes.
As you defeat enemies throughout the Lands Between, defeating them rewards you with runes. Sometimes enemies with golden glowing eyes indicate they could yield up to five times more runes than usual! Bosses also provide ample resources in terms of runes; you should battle them to unlock even greater amounts.
Gold Scarab Talismans and Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot consumables can significantly boost rune earnings per enemy defeated, making farming for runes easier when leveling or upgrading equipment. Both items can be obtained through Castellan Jerren as part of Sorceress Sellen’s questline, or purchased from Kale at Church of Elleh in Roundtable Hold.
